New England to North Dakota!

This was the first newspaper published in Hettinger County, North Dakota. One of the proprietors was Col. John B. Mead. He was originally from Randolph, Vermont and served in the state legislature there. He helped organize a group of New England citizens who moved to the Dakota territory and created a community called New England City.
