Description

In this petition the women of the Lowell Female Labor Reform Association requested that the people of Massachusetts join together to fight the capitalists. As the headline makes clear, their demand was a ten-hour workday. On January 15, 1845, in the pages of the Voice of Industry, a petition was circulated to force the legislature to act and support the ten-hour minimum.
