Quincy Sewall Abbot

Quincy Abbot died January 3, 2023. He was a descendant of many distinguished New England families, whose history and genealogy he studied over many decades. Drawing upon family books and papers, Abbot wrote and self-published the 2013 volume, From Schoolboy to Soldier: The Journals and Correspondence of Edward Stanley Abbot, about a great-uncle who died from injuries sustained at the Battle of Gettysburg. He was an insurance actuary who spent his career at Connecticut General (later CIGNA), playing a role in congressional tax reforms of the insurance industries in the 1980s, and a longtime advocate for people with disabilities.
