John Thomas Zubal

John Zubal died May 1, 2023. An antiquarian bookseller based in Cleveland, Zubal was in the trade from 1963 until his death. Early to see the benefits of the Internet, he created his online business in 1995. His stock of close to five million volumes included a wide array of institutional reports, biographies, government documents, fiction, and other items. Zubal donated more than twenty-five items to the AAS collections, including the programs of mid-nineteenth-century college commencement exercises, several broadsides, and, in 2016, the sheet music for The Gipsy’s Warning: Composed with Symphonies and Accompaniments for the Piano Forte, by Henry A. Coard (1864).
