George W. Tetler III, partner in Bowditch & Dewey LLP, has earned a reputation as a highly effective and analytically sharp business lawyer, with over 40 years of business and finance law experience. Financial institutions, investors, boards of directors, business owners and nonprofit organizations throughout New England seek George’s help with mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, capital investments, restructurings and business planning matters. Since 1989 he has been named among the Best Lawyers in America, selected by his peers for inclusion in the fields of Banking and Finance Law, Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law, Business Organizations (including LLCs and Partnerships), Commercial Litigation, and Corporate Law. 

George serves as special counsel to boards of directors, financial institutions and corporations in complex internal investigations and compliance investigations. Regional and community banking institutions regularly engage George in merger and acquisition transactions, bank holding company formations and regulatory and compliance matters. He recently served as the Chair of the New England Commission of Higher Education, the first non-academic to hold the position.

A leader in the business community of Central Massachusetts, George focuses his efforts on economic development and educational and cultural matters. In addition to the AAS Council, he currently serves on the boards of the Worcester Art Museum, the Worcester Regional Research Bureau, Nativity School of Worcester, The Venture Forum, and the Worcester State Foundation. He has previously chaired several of those boards, as well as the Worcester Business Development Corporation, the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Central Massachusetts, Music Worcester, and the Worcester State College Board of Trustees.
