Robert R. Dykstra

Bob Dykstra died November 10, 2022. Professor emeritus of history and public policy at the State University of New York at Albany, Dykstra was the author of The Cattle Towns (1968), Bright Radical Star: Black Freedom and White Supremacy on the Hawkeye Frontier (1993), and Dodge City and the Birth of the Wild West (2017, with Jo Ann Manfra). He was a fellow of the Society of American Historians, and was the recipient (with Jo Ann Manfra) of the 1986 Binkley-Stephenson Award for the best article in the Journal of American History. He was a research associate at AAS in 1985-86.
