Conservation Lab

Three workstations in the Conservation Lab.

The Conservation Lab is outfitted with five workstations, state-of-the-art specialized equipment, a chemical treatments room, and an office for the chief conservator. It is a streamlined and spacious facility that will accommodate more staff and interns than ever to help process, preserve, and make collection items safe and ready for use.

AAS was among the first research libraries in the country to engage interns in its Conservation Lab. It has been recognized as a conservation and preservation leader, both in preserving rare materials and in advancing the age-old traditions of bookbinding and other book arts.
