This book was created cooperatively by amateurs in three states. The story was authored by Syracuse, New York, amateur journalist Charles Worthing Ostrander, Jr. (1857-1938) who later worked as a clerk and salesman. Amateur publisher Grenfil Blake Garrison (1860-1933) was from Brookville, Pennsylvania, and became an industrialist and financial executive in New York City and later California. Printer Charles Edwin Williams (1859-1936) was an amateur from Portland, Maine, who later worked as a professional printer.
