Written by eight- or nine-year-old Bertha Johnston (1864-1953) and printed by her uncle William Lawson Hathaway Owens (1840-1916). Johnston later graduated from Framingham (Massachusetts) Normal School and was the editor of Kindergarten Magazine starting in 1897.
