The Sunbeams was published by students of Milford High School and edited by Sullivan Clark Sumner (1836-1904), Adelaide V. Vant (ca. 1835-1859), and P.A. Fossey in Milford, Worcester County, Mass. during 1851. The paper includes articles on storms, politness, drawing, education, and music. It also includes two stories titled "The Life of a Walnut Tree" and "The History of a Bible," in which the students write from the point of view of the tree and the book. Sumner and Vant are listed in the orginizing committee for a reunion titled "Anniversary Meeting" on November 12, 1850 for Milford High School, which inlcuded speeches and a social gathering for past and present students.
