The Academic Star was edited by George T. Cross (ca. 1843- ) and Rebecca H. Hill (ca. 1838- ) and published by John D. Hilliard in the neighborhood of Germantown in Quincy, Norfolk County, Mass. during 1855. The contributors include Fanny, Amy, Mary, Flora, Cass, Webster, and Barney Briggs (ca. 1840- ). They wrote about music, morality, memory, education and school, and courtship. They also included puzzles, anecdotes and short stories, and local notices and advertisements. Some of the articles include "Humbug," "A Dream," "Autobiography of a Gold Watch," and "Thoughts on Time."
