The Penny Whistle was published in Newton Centre, Middlesex County, Mass. during 1870. In the header, they indicate that it was published and edited by "an association of deep thinkers" and the initials A.M.G. are listed as "editor, proprietor, & publisher." This was the prospectus for their upcoming paper and included mostly advertisements, a few local announcements, and a call for contributions. The editor warns that "long winded discourses from seniors over 21 years of age, and baby stories from children under 10 not acceptable."
