The article presents statements from the executive council of the American Antiquarian Society at a special meeting held on April 21, 1884 to respond to the death of the historian and member of the Society Dwight Foster. The committee praises the accomplishments of Foster in his life's career as a public servant and judge as well as his contributions to the Society's activities. Comments are also given reviewing the gifts and responsibilities which Foster shared within the historical association. Invitations for Society members to attend the funeral are also included.
