The article presents the proceedings of the special meeting of the executive council of the American Antiquarian Society which met on November 27, 1889 in response to the death of the society member Charles Deane. Eulogy remarks by the society president, vice-president and several other officers are noted. A common statement of condolences by the council is also reproduced.
