Report of the Librarian.

A report issued by the American Antiquarian Society's (AAS) librarian is presented. The author discusses the status of the AAS Library as a private library but comments that it is intended to serve public needs and notes changes to the library's by-laws. A document listing hymns and speeches delivered to celebrate the anniversary of the establishment of the AAS is presented. A letter by Edward E. Hale, chairman of the Young Men's Library Association's natural history department, to the AAS regarding the transfer of natural history specimens is offered. The accuracy of an article by John Codman printed in the periodical "New England Magazine" regarding prison conditions in Worcester, Massachusetts is disputed.
