Illustrated Americana of the Revolution.

The article discusses the depiction of the U.S. Revolutionary War in engravings and illustrations. The author comments on the production of maps during the war. Engravings produced in Europe, such as those depicting the French Revolution, are compared to work by U.S. engravers such as Samuel Okey, who created a portrait of U.S. statesman Samuel Adams, and Amos Doolittle, who collaborated with artist Ralph Earle to create illustrations of the battles of Lexington, Massachusetts and Concord, Massachusetts. Portraits by engraver John Norman and plates of the battle of Bunker Hill in Massachusetts are described. Plates created by silversmith Paul Revere are noted.
