On Some Social Distinctions at Harvard and Yale, Before the Revolution.

A conference paper is presented concerning social distinctions before the American Revolution at Harvard University in Massachusetts and Yale University in Connecticut. It discusses how graduates from both universities were cataloged to indicate the rank of their respective fathers or families. It discusses how this was the custom in England, where the founders of the schools were from. It lists several names which occur frequently in the catalogs, such as Winthrop.
