The article presents an overview of the literature published in connection to the witchcraft hysteria of the 1690s in Salem, Massachusetts. Comments are given noting the large breadth of historiography surrounding the incidents beginning from contemporary accounts and continuing indefinitely. Works mentioned include a pamphlet by Deodat Lawson entitled "A brief and true narrative of some remarkable passages relating to the sundry persons, afflicted by witchcraft at Salem Village, which happened from the nineteenth of March to the fifth of April, 1692." The collection of the trial's manuscripts is discussed. Comments are also included noting different perspectives on the causes and influences of the phenomenon.
