John Winthrop, Junior.

A biography of former Connecticut governor John Winthrop Jr. is presented. Winthrop was born in Suffolk, England on February 12 in either 1605 or 1606 and studied at Trinity College. He joined the British Navy and traveled Europe before marrying Martha Fones and relocating to America, where he settled in Ipswich, Massachusetts. He became governor of Connecticut, where he supervised the construction of a fort and created a charter.
