The article presents a critical historical evaluation of the late 17th-century Native American captivity narrative of Mary Rowlandson, widely published throughout New England. The author cross-references the accounts of Rowlandson with contemporary historical sources, rejecting several of her claims concerning her travels under captivity of the Wampanoags and her meeting with King Philip. Several of her migrations as depicted in her work are outlined in chronological order with specific geographical and historic analysis.
