The article presents an examination of the currencies used by the Massachusetts Bay in the first half of the 18th-century and the monetary policy administered by the colonial government. Details are given describing the design of the bills and coins issued by the colonial authority, taken from observations of multiple preserved imprinting plates from the era as well as in reference to secondary documentation. Mention is also given to the legislative Acts which determined and regulated the money supply of the colony, citing the denominations, values, and backing of each type.
