The Development of the American People.

The article discusses the development of U.S. society and politics. The author discusses the evolution of the conception of the state in the political thought of philosophers such as John Locke and Charles de Secondat, baron de Montesquieu, and the role of justice in government as viewed by philosophers such as Plato. He suggests that conditions in America accelerated political changes and promoted the mixing of races. He compares social and political conditions of the U.S. to those in Europe and comments on how perceptions of the word "people" have changed to promote inclusion in America.
