The article presents discussion of the 18th century colonial Massachusetts coastal defense vessel the "Prince of Orange," under the command of Captain Edward Tyng. Details are given describing the government orders to maintain a naval defense for the colony during the 1740s and the construction of the snow-class ship. Accounts are then provided outlining the voyages and campaigns which the Prince of Orange participated in against French privateers during the following decade until its loss in a storm in 1745.
