Myths and Superstitions of the Oregon Indians.

The article presents an overview of the mythology, folklore and religious traditions of the Native Americans within the Oregon Territory. Subjects addressed include the Indian conceptions of the spiritual world and of gods, their creation myths, and their myths which relate to explanations of the physical world. Further discussion is also given to their conceptions of the future life or punishment. Examples are given of both generalized ideologies as well as specific tales and manners practiced by the tribes.
