A response to the article "Benjamin Franklin and the First Balloons," which was published in a previous issue of the journal, is presented. Historian A.H. Church discusses two letters written by American statesman Benjamin Franklin contained in the collection of the Royal Society in England and which focus on balloon experiments. Notes on one of the letters discuss the use of hot air by balloonist Joseph Michel Montgolfier. The author compares the original letters to the versions presented in the previous article and suggests the previously published versions were facsimiles.
