The Libraries of the Mathers.

The article discusses the libraries of the Mather family. The author notes the establishment of personal libraries by clergyman and settlers in New England. After settling in New England, minister Richard Mather left a large portion of his books to his son Samuel Mather. Minister Nathaniel Mather's books were passed on to his nephew, also named Samuel Mather. A list of books previously owned by minister Increase Mather and later donated to the Boston Public Library is provided. Some of Increase Mather's books were inherited by minister Cotton Mather, who collected many other books.
