Vitcos, the Last Inca Capital.

The article presents an exploration into the author's efforts in locating the Inca capital of Vitcos, the excavations of its ruins, and the history of the city in the mid 16th century at the end of the Inca Empire after its conquest by the Spanish conquistadors. Details are given describing the defensive measures taken by the Incan King Manco to retreat into the city of Vitcos, the final defense of the Incans against Spanish expansion, and its eventual downfall. Extensive description is also given relating the author's travels to the region of Cuzco, Peru in 1911 and his investigations of the city's ruins.
