Andrew Craigie and the Scioto Associates.

The article discusses the American Antiquarian Society's (AAS) collection of papers, including letters, related to the business dealings of speculator Andrew Craigie. The relationship between Craigie and fellow speculator William Duer and Craigie's involvement in the purchase of land in New York are noted. Duer assisted in the purchase of land in Ohio by the Ohio Company of Associates, a coalition of Revolutionary War veterans, and became a trustee with Craigie to the proprietors of the Scioto region of Ohio, tracts of which were offered by agent Joel Barlow to European immigrants despite Duer not owning the lands.
