Report of the Council.

A report issued by the American Antiquarian Society (AAS) Council is presented. The author notes the deaths of AAS members Frederick Lewis Gay, Anson Daniel Morse, James Burrill Angell and Stephen Denison Peet. Gay had previously donated the manuscript "The Records of the Council of New England" to the society. The author warns that the society should not become complacent as a result of its prosperity and comments on the geographic distribution of the society's membership, which is intended to represent the entire U.S. despite the disproportionate number of members from Massachusetts. The need for funds to increase storage space for the society's newspaper collection is noted.
