A report issued by the American Antiquarian Society (AAS) Council is presented. The author notes the deaths of AAS members Charles S. Vedder, Edmund Mills Barton, Austin Samuel Garver and Federico González Suárez. The disposal of duplicate newspapers from the AAS collection through exchanges with the U.S. Library of Congress and sales to the University of Michigan is commented on. The effect of war fuel rationing on the preservation of AAS collections is noted. An AAS exhibition of military recruiting posters and currency from the Civil War is described.
