Report of the Council.

A report from the Council of the American Antiquarian Society (AAS) is presented. The deaths of AAS members James Phinney, Charles Pickering Bowditch, John Woolf Jordan, Genaro Garcia and Edward Hooker Gilbert are noted. A bequest of books and pamphlets to the society from the estate of AAS member Nathaniel Paine to be included in the AAS Library is discussed. The lack of space in the AAS building for the storage of newspapers and local historical, genealogical and bibliographical materials and the mailing of a circular to raise funds for the society are commented on.
