The article presents an overview of the gift of several 18th century portraits given to the American Antiquarian Society Library in Worcester, Massachusetts by the wife of former member Frederick Lewis Gay. Details are given outlining the characteristics of each painting and its subject, including the Boston, Massachusetts ministers Cotton Mather, Mather Byles and Mather Brown. Further accounts are given tracing the history of each work from its initial creation through its various owners previous to the Society.
