The Libraries of the Presidents of the United States.

The article presents an examination into the personal libraries of the U.S. presidents. An overview of the reading habits and private collections of each individual president from George Washington to Herbert Hoover is provided. The conservation and transmission of their collections are also discussed in turn and images from the bookplates of several presidents are included. Comments are provided particularly for presidents who showed a distinct reputation for fostering literature, including Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Calvin Coolidge.
