American Literature and American Politics.

The article presents a study of the intersections between U.S. politics and American literature up to the Civil War. The author highlights several prominent authors throughout the antebellum age, including Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ralph Waldo Emerson, describing their personal political views and how they engaged, or did not engage, the popular culture of their age.
