Peter Martyr and His Works.

The article presents an in-depth profile of the Italian-Spanish historian Peter Martyr and his works documenting the early explorations of North America. A biographical overview of his life is given, highlighting his education in Rome, Italy, his travels and establishment in Spain, and his international travels. Discussion is given highlighting Martyr's depiction of the exploratory voyages of Martin Alonso Pinzon and others within the monograph "De Orbe Nouo Decades." Questions are also raised evaluating Martyr's historiographical techniques and sources. An annotated bibliography of Martyr's published works is also included.
