Francisco López De Gómara and His Works.

The article presents an examination into the Spanish historian Francisco López de Gómara and his accounts of the Spanish exploration and conquest of Central America. Details are given highlighting Gómara's significance as an early historiographer of Hernan Cortés' expeditions in Mexico. Questions are raised reviewing the methodologies and source material used by Gómara in publishing his works, citing controversy over his legitimacy. A brief overview of Gómara's life is given. An annotated bibliography of Lopez de Gómara's published writings is also included.
