Gombo Comes to Philadelphia.

Briefly reviews the growth and spread of Gombo, a corrupted French Creole dialect originally employed by the Negroes in the French Antilles, and brought to Louisiana and other parts of the North American continent during the late 18th century by refugees from the slave risings. A short, privately printed booklet of Gombo poetry and songs, which appeared in Philadelphia in 1811, is reproduced.
