Parkman, a Harvard graduate of 1721, was the minister of Westborough, Massachusetts from 1724 until his death in 1782. His fully edited diary, with careful identification of the many persons mentioned, provides a valuable and extensive insight into the social history of a New England town. The entries for 1747, the portion included in this installment, are unusually full.
