Frank Luther Mott.

Obituary of the "historian of American journalism," Frank Luther Mott (1886-1964). Director of the State University of Iowa School of Journalism from 1927 to 1942 and Dean of the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri from 1942 to 1951, he helped shape the modern profession. As a historian, author of 'History of American Magazines, 1741-1905' (4 Vols., 1930-1957), he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1939.
