A Calendar of American Poetry in the Colonial Newspapers and Magazines and in the Major English Magazines Through 1765.

The purpose of this calendar is to provide a listing of some of the hitherto unknown American poetry published in both colonial newspapers and periodicals and in the most important English magazines through 1765. Included for each poem are date and place of publication, first line, title, number of lines, author, a note about reprints, and other supplemental information. Poetry in English magazines considered American and, therefore, included were those poems containing American subject matter, those dated from North America or the West Indies, those with pseudonyms suggesting American authorship, and those known to be written by an American.
