Samuel Flagg Bemis.

An obituary for Samuel Flagg Bemis (1891-1973). He graduated from Clark College, where he became interested in history, and from Harvard University. He was a civilian during World War I, but was aboard a torpedoed ship, which event caused a lingering illness. He taught at several colleges before settling down to a lengthy tenure at Yale. He joined the American Antiquarian Society in 1932. He wrote numerous articles and books mainly on diplomatic history.
