Letters of John Fenno and John Ward Fenno, 1779-1800.

The Fenno letters reveal the collisions of politics, economics, and journalism during the early years of the Republic. Both Fennos were editors and publishers; both were controversial and politically committed. These letters reveal the intimate connection between access to information and possession of power in the years following the Revolutionary War. They also reflect the relationship between the press and the government.
