George Edmund Gifford, Jr.

Gifford (1931-81), a psychiatrist, was interested in the history of medicine and an avid book collector. He wrote several books on the history of medicine, and eventually obtained a master's degree in the history of science. He later developed an interest in natural history, and worked on the life and art of Isaac Sprague, a natural history illustrator.
