Discusses a bookbinding by William Swaim, who signed it in gold. Swaim, and this volume, received the 1805 prize for the "best American binding in American leather at the Literary Fair of the American Company of Booksellers held in Newark, New Jersey." Research into the Swaim family to date largely ends in confusion, as several William Swaims have been discovered.
