Valuable for the Indian speeches they contain, the minutes report talks by spokesmen for the Iroquois Confederacy in their negotiations with whites. As such, they present a rare glimpse of the Indian perspective on such treaty efforts. Many of the speeches, or excerpts from them, are reprinted here.
