From Art to Technology and Science.

Examines the careers of three artists - Charles Willson Peale, Samuel F. B. Morse, and Rufus Porter - whose careers moved from art to technology and science. What made this change possible was the centrality to these diverse fields of visual or spatial thinking. Movement between art and science was much easier and more common in early America than it is today.
