Notes on American Bookbindings.

Herman Mann was a prolific printer in the early 19th century, but he was also a newspaper publisher, paper marbler, bookseller, stationer, and bookbinder. This article examines Mann's bookbinding skills and summarizes his known activities as a bookbinder. Many of these books, as well as other bindings that might be attributable to Mann, are at the Dedham Historical Society.
