The Reverend Ebenezer Parkman's Farm Workers, Westborough, Massachusetts, 1726-82.

Examines the farm workers that Ebenezer Parkman hired on a seasonal basis on his Westborough, Massachusetts, farm during 1726-82. These workers were his chief source of labor, aside from the work of his sons, for only seasonal workers provided a reliable form of labor. Parkman's farm was not a significant market operation, therefore his need for labor was tied directly to domestic consumption. The author surveys the qualities Parkman sought in a laborer, his wage scales, and the geographic range of his labor market, appending a list of Parkman's children as well as an annotated chronological list of his farm workers.
