Dorothy Burnett Porter Wesley (1905-95) was a bibliographer of African-American history and literature. A 1928 graduate of Howard University, she spent her subsequent professional career at Howard as a specialist in African-American materials and developed outstanding collections, including considerable work on what became the Moorland-Spingarn Research Collection. A recipient of many honorary degrees, she received the Charles Frankel Award from the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1995.
