A Harvard Seminar Looks at the Wards.

Artemas Ward, a descendant of Revolutionary War general Artemas Ward, donated his family's ancestral home in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, to Harvard University in 1926. The Ward family was the focus of a graduate research seminar at that institution in 2001. Seminar participants explored a number of topics, including the advertising career of the donor, 19th-century family life, an interpretation of the book 'Old Times in Shrewsbury,' the travels of Henry Dana Ward (1768-1817), the Wards' encounters with Native Americans, General Artemas Ward's role in the formation of the Revolutionary Army, and efforts by the general's descendants to keep his memory alive.
